VIRGINIA
DEPT. OF EDUCATION APPROVED
What
is GGC's Computer Training Program?
GGC's
Computer Training Program is a Commonwealth of Virginia, Veteran
Education (GI Benefits) and Northern Virginia Investment Board (NVWIB)
workforce development and computer certification facility,
designed to equip current and prospective Information Technology
(IT) employees with the skills needed to fill the thousands
of current and future vacant positions. With a variety of certificates
to choose from, participants can earn a certificate in approximately
one to 6 months while taking classes part-time.
Who Can Benefit From This Program?
Degreed or non-degreed individuals with
some technical orientation who have the aptitude, motivation,
and interest to learn. GGC has teamed up with local government
and employment resource centers such as Skillsource,
Veteran Affairs (GI Educational
Funding) and Metrotech,
a federal government-funded project, to provide free training
for laid-off, unemployed and currently discharged military veterans,
in an effort to address the shortage of qualified individuals
with hi-technology skills.
